wowzah it’s july

July 2, 2010

it’s been about 3 or so months since i posted.  so crazy.  work got busy, wedding planning got busy.  I just became ms. busy.  Our invitations have been made, printed, put together and mailed.  it’s was a crazy process which I will save for another blog post.  We had so much fun making our invitations but don’t get me wrong, it was definitely a hard and stressful process, but the finished product is so worth it.  Thomas did a great job designing the invitations and the printer we used even put them up on her website.  She was super responsive and really great to work with.  Her letter press company is called moontree letterpress and she’s located in brooklyn (we love local).  You can check our her blog post about our invitation here.  She also has an etsy shop.

The final product looks amazing

my new fitness friend

April 21, 2010

I know it’s been awhile my friends but I’m back! and better than ever thanks to my new friend fitbit.  who’s fitbit you ask?  well, it’s the nifty little gadget that keeps me responsable for my health – it tracks my fitness, my sleeping patterns, helps me set goals and in return I add a log of my food intake for the day and voila — I have a nifty little aggregate tracker of my health.

He’s super tiny, slim and utlra cool.  I keep in clipped dead front center on my bra and don’t even notice him.  Oh but he notices me AND keeps me motivated.

Yes, it’s only day 2 with my little friend but I feel obligated to walk more and exercise…and having to write down what I eat everyday makes me pass sometimes on the candy machine with the 5 chocolate covered almonds for only 25 cents (138 calories and 9.4 grams of fat).  and if I do want those almonds, then I just have to walk my dog a couple of extra times…so it’s a win win 🙂

planning lull

April 8, 2010

it’s been too long since i’ve posted but i’ve just been in a wedding planning lull.  I tried to knock myself out of that lull by attending the NY magazine bridal event yesterday evening…but that was unsuccessful.  I just need a bit of inspiration to get me back in the game….

esummary week 1

March 13, 2010

So my push to exercise didn’t go too well this week

It started out with good intentions.

Monday I exercised with my new exercise buddy from work, Katie.  We did the elliptical and then went on to machines.  While we were doin our thing, we were approached by a personal trainer who began to tell us not to use those machines but to do resistance training.  which makes sense.  he of course wanted to sell us sessions…wish I could afford those…but I think I’m going to by a resistance band and research some exercises online.

Tuesday, I went to the gym after work.  Nothing fancy, just the elliptical again.  I started to feel a little sick during my workout so I didn’t do anything else and just headed home.  Then I got sick.  I’m not sure if I accidentally ate gluten or had a stomach flu or what not but I just didn’t feel well.  (not sure if I’ve mentioned having celiac disease and being gluten free…can’t imagine that I haven’t since it’s a huge part of my life)  But, I get a pretty sick when/if I eat gluten (which I never do so it’s always just by accident).  I just have a bad reaction and I have to deal with it…there really isnt’ much I can do.  So the day I get sick I just stick to clear liquids only and try to not throw up.  Then the next day, I’m clear liquids and maybe a liquid (usually a milkshake) if I feel up to it.  Then the day after that….gluten free oatmeal and I take it easy from there.  So Wednesday I didn’t really eat anything but chicken broth and ginger ale.  Thursday I had tea and a chocolate milkshake and Friday I had oatmeal and grilled chicken.  I didn’t exercise but I didn’t really have the energy.  Today I wasn’t feeling up to it either and Sunday is cleaning day so I wont get around to it tomorrow either.  blah.

Here’s to week 2

UPDATE: hair help

March 12, 2010

so the lady who was scheduled to cut/color my hair had to cancel and reschedule due to sickness.  They offered someone else but the person I had scheduled was recommended by a friend of mine so I just decided to wait another week….which just means another week of voting! 😉

i hate crystals

March 8, 2010

hate is probably a strong word…but i dislike them A LOT.  all of these platinum weddings I see on tv have billions of crystals, like $30,000 in crystals.  really?  first, that’s a waste…what happens to those crystals when you are done?  and second, ew.  it just seems tacky almost, like senior prom or something.  I don’t know I just don’t like them at all.

I dislike them so much I can’t have any “bling” on my dress…i dont care what kind of fancy crystals they are…they just feel tacky to me for some reason.  I think this is a recent development…

I’m even considering only pearls for my jewelry since diamonds remind me so much of crystals.  this is beginning to be a problem and maybe I should stop watching these wedding shows.  nevertheless, i hate crystals.

hair help!

March 5, 2010
tags:

so if you know me…then you know how often I change my hair. I used to change it more often than I do now…but since moving to nyc and experiencing nyc prices…I haven’t changed my hair style as much as I used to.

So, because I have experienced pretty much every natural color in the hair spectrum, I’m having a difficult time deciding on a color for my hair for my wedding day. The style of my hair will be decided later…maybe in an entire different post/poll.

So I have an appointment for a cut and color Friday, March 12 and I need your help. Please vote on the poll below for the color you think I should test out first. Just look at the colors, not the styles. Whatever color wins will be the color I will try out first. I’m going to get the color and test it out with some pictures. Post it here and then decide if I should do another color trial with a different color.

so…let’s get to voting!

1. Dark Brown

2. Dark Brown with Red highlights

3. Brown

4. Brown/red with highlights

5. Medium brown with red highlights

6. Dark Red

7. Red

8. Red with highlights

9. More highlights

10. so many highlights I’m practically blonde!

11. Very blonde – for fun!

It’s National Craft Month…yes it does exists

February 28, 2010

I didn’t even know this existed but it does and my favorite place to shop HSN is celebrating National Craft Month for all of March. I’m actually really excited since I’m going to DIY a lot of stuff…I haven’t figured out everything I’m going to need to do but I’m sure I can get a lot of supplies during this celebratory month. Any ideas on what I should get? I’m thinking this cricut thing that may help with programs or table numbers or anything like that…

I’m trying to curb my spending especially on HSN and QVC.  I’m a bit obsessed with home shopping and today’s special values and easy pay installments.  I’m hoping I may be able to trick myself by shopping on these sites for only wedding stuff.  I found some great jewelry and now national craft month…it’s definitely going to help me feel like I’m not depriving myself of shopping…we’ll see if that works out….

Here’s a pic of that cricut thing…does anyone have one of these?  Is it worth it?

More to come on what

the wedding “diet”

February 25, 2010

So I’m not necessarily going on a diet.  I already have to cut gluten out of my diet since I have celiac disease so what I eat is already limited.  I can eat a bit healthier which is what I aim to do as well as kick start an exercise program.  I don’t know why it always takes a wedding to get a girl to get fit but it’s a great motivator that’s for sure.  PLUS a month after my wedding is my 10 year high school renunion…so even more reason to get my butt in gear.

I’m already a member of a gym and really need to just start going more.  I also have a workout DVD program called Kettlenetics which I enjoy.  Yesterday, I bought a few workout videos from Amazon as well.  They are from Exhale spa – there’s one in NYC by my offcie and I took a class there called Core Fusion.  It kicked my butt – but in a good way.  I would love to continue taking the classes but they are too expensive for my budget so instead I bought the DVD programs of the classes…best of both worlds.  I’m also looking into Insanity or P90x.  I’m not a HUGE fan of p90x because I feel like it really focuses on big muscles.  Insanity is all about cardio but the reviews I’ve read say it’s harder than P90x…

anyone try any off these?

So I’m going to put a schedule together Monday of gym days, kettlenetics days, and core conditioning days.  And this blog is going to keep my accountable!!

i’m all about contests

February 23, 2010

If there’s a contest out there, I’m entering it.  I pretty much never win….like ever…but I still enter them. I haven’t given up hope yet.  And ever since I started trying to plan this wedding (on a BUDGET) I’ve entered just about every contest I’ve come across…and I’ve asked people to vote.  I’m sure everyone is going to get pretty sick of me begging for votes…but I don’t care….

And this one I’m entering doesn’t need anyone to vote at all…the winner is picked at random.  BEST KIND OF CONTEST EVER!!!

The Chic Clutch Hunt Giveaway by Amanda Pearl.

These clutches are fantabulous (yes, that’s a word i’ve made up) because there really is no other way to describe these clutches.

The clutches!

2 is my FAV!!

side note:  I hope I don’t start using the word more often and cheapen the greatness that it represents…fantabulous
